Learner Safety in the Workplace
Work placements give our learners the valuable experience of life in the ‘real world' in their chosen vocational area. We are extremely grateful to our partner employers for providing and supporting these opportunities.
As a responsible training provider, Lancaster and Morecambe College have a duty of care to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our learners so far as is reasonably practicable. This responsibility covers the time when they are in College but also extends to work placements that are organised as part of their learning programme.
Learners participating in work placements are legally regarded as the placement provider's employees for the purpose of Health and Safety.
Particular attention should be given to safeguarding under 18s, vulnerable adults and learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
