Introduction
If you’re a budding musician, singer or producer, these courses will give you the skills and understanding you need to launch a successful career.
You will have access to state of the art technology and equipment including a professional recording studio, rehearsal ‘pods’, MAC editing suites and the latest digital image and audio recording equipment. You will also be encouraged to make use of the stunning performance venue, The Hexagon Theatre, to showcase your work and develop your skills.
You will gain industry experience working with guest speakers and bands to improve your skills and take part in shows, competitions and performances. Your tutors are all experienced in the industry in which you want to work, so understand the balance of theoretical understanding and real-life experience and expectations which will help prepare you for university study and work in the subject you have selected.
Students have gone on to all sorts of exciting things from traineeship with the BBC and to working in radio and creating original music. Many also progress from the level 3 courses to university including studying Popular Music and Production at Manchester College and Music Production at Bolton University.

General information
If you want to work as a musician, music producer or performer this course will help you to develop the necessary skills in this competitive industry. You will practise and expand your abilities in music performance, music production and theatre performance. You will also be introduced to the fundamentals and structure of the music industry and performing arts business including administration, technical, artistic and managerial aspects. By planning, rehearsing and performing gigs/ theatre performances or the creation of a CD of original music you will learn about aspects of the process from the initial idea to a final product or performance.
Who is the course for?
The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the music, performance and entertainment industries or who are progressing from relevant level 1 courses.
What do I need to join the course?
You will need:
- 4 GCSEs at grade D-G including English
You must enjoy working with people, have a proven interest in music and have enthusiasm for the subject.
