Lancaster and Morecambe College’s 10:10 Pledge
Lancaster & Morecambe College is proud to have signed up to the 10:10 pledge, aiming for a 10% reduction in the College’s carbon footprint across five key areas:
- Grid electricity
- Onsite fossil fuel use, e.g. gas and oil
- Vehicle fuel use
- Air travel
- Waste
The 10:10 pledge was launched at the College’s professional Development Day in January 2010, with teams across college looking at how that could change their working practices and making their own commitments to reducing CO2 emissions.
A special 10:10 edition of the College in house electronic newsletter Features was produced, to give staff more information about 10:10. This not only looked at how emissions could be made in a work setting, but also gave information on how changes at home could impact on the environment and family finances.
LMC Games Development students produced animations which are shown around college as a daily reminder to staff and students of the 10:10 commitment. These animations can also be seen on the College Facebook and Youtube pages.
We’ll be measuring and monitoring our progress through out the year and will report back on the savings we have managed to make.
