Scary vs Sultry
Scary vs Sultry
The undead, vampire brides and even a fallen angel took centre stage in the Annual Student Make-up Competition just before Christmas.
Students competing in the ‘Fantasy’ category worked to create the best Halloweenthemed theatrical and media make-up, with those placed first and second earning the right to represent the college at the National Student Make-up Competition in London this March.
The eye-catching entries were created in just 3 1/2 hours with no reference to illustrations, texts or books. The guest judge for this category, Lisa Casson, a former student who now runs her own business, won the National Student Make-up Competition herself whilst a student at LMC.
The standard of the competition was extremely high, but the judges were able to choose the winners based on the standards of health, safety and hygiene, technique, creativity in the interpretation of the theme, make-up, costume and overall effect. First place was awarded to Jessica Greaves, and her model, Lauren Ashton. Second place went to Jack Mitchell, whose model, Matthew Mitchell, was transformed into a fallen angel.
Students competing in the Fashion and Photographic Make-up category took fashion designer, John Galliano as their inspiration, creating stunningly beautiful detail and designs. Again, the students placed first and second will have the right to represent LMC at the National Student Make-up Competition. Following a fantastic fashion show, the judges chose Rosie Didsdale and her dramatic tartan-clad model to take first place, and Sammy Almond’s vision in purple to take second place.
Good luck in the National Competition!
