Summer Sports
Summer Activity Success
The Sports Centre once again hosted its popular children’s activity programme during the summer holidays. Children aged 7-14 years were able to take part in various sporting activities over the six week period.
The programme included various sports such as badminton, hockey, football and athletics, as well as some specialised days.
One of our popular specialised events was a visit from Lancaster Bulldogs Wheelchair Basketball Club. Children were given the opportunity to try their hand at playing basketball which gave them an insight into what it is like to be in a wheelchair. This proved to be one of our most popular days.
Other main event days included Wimbledon Day with strawberries and cream, Gladiators, and Animal Play with guests - snakes and spiders!
Continuing the success of our day trips, this time we went to Camelot, South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Chill Factor and Blackburn Ice Rink.
During the fourth week of the activities, all football fans were able to enrol on our soccer camp in which they were able to practice skills with our specialised coaches.
To round off another very successful summer, we celebrated with an end of summer party for the children where they could enjoy a fun packed day with a BBQ, silly games and a giant inflatable fun run which was enjoyed by all.
Our next children’s activities will take place during October half term. If any staff are interested in enrolling their children, please contact us on ext 411.
