Serbian Visitors to LMC
Building European Links
Lancaster and Morecambe College continues to build its European links by working with a college in Serbia.
LMC is half way through a two year project funded by the British Council Skills@Work fund working with a Tourism and Vocational college in Serbia. LMC is helping staff at the Serbian college to improve employer links, update the curriculum and embed quality procedures.
As part of the project 2 staff and 3 students from Serbia spent time last month at LMC and at businesses around the region seeing how vocational training is delivered and meeting employers.
Serbian staff member Ms Sanja Antovic and tourism student Katarina Bajic spent time at Manchester Airport where Katarina undertook cabin crew training. Hospitality students Nenad Kovacevic and Igor Barac accompanied by tutor Djordje Stojanovic worked alongside LMC staff in the college’s Coulson’s restaurant and visited other restaurants with which LMC works in the Lancaster district.
Later this month three LMC students will take part in a reciprocal visit to Belgrade and next year LMC staff will attend an Employer conference for the hospitality industry in Belgrade helping to train staff on Quality Management procedures.
