Sustainable skills at LMC
Lancaster & Morecambe College are working as a partner college alongside St Helens College with Lancashire Global Education Centre (LGEC) on a new three year initiative.
The aim of the “sustainable skills” project is to embed sustainable Development into course teaching, enabling students and tutors to improve their understanding of their role on global poverty and other developmental issues. Other issues which will be addressed are the relationship between careers and sustainable development and the teaching of practical skills that contribute towards positive social and environmental change. The four key subject areas which are taking part in the project initially are; Business, Art and Design, Health and Social Care and Travel and Tourism.
Working closely with LMC and St Helens the LGEC will develop activities around sustainable development which can be used by other colleges, helping 500 students across the North West gain knowledge in this important area.
