Young Apprentices’ Success
Lancaster and Morecambe’s first cohort of young Apprentices have all completed their two year programmes and moved on to begin further study and training.
22 Young Apprentices took part in the scheme which ran as a partnership between Lancaster & Morecambe College, Lancaster Training Services and five local schools. As part of the two year programme, the young apprentices spend part of their time at school and part at college developing their skills for a career.
Twelve of the young apprentices have gone onto full time apprenticeships in hairdressing and the motor vehicle industry and nine have chosen to study NVQ courses at Lancaster and Morecambe College, building on the skills they have learned over that last two years. This could lead them into employment or higher qualifications.
LMC’s Director of Development Helen Deacon said “We are pleased that the partnership of the college, LTS and local schools has had such great results with its very first cohort of the programme.”
