Bay Studios Visit

Bay Radio visit

Local radio station

20 students from the First Diploma for ICT Practitioners course paid a visit to the Bay Radio studios on St Georges Quay, Lancaster in December.

This is an educational visit we have made to The Bay for the last 4 years. The visit is mapped to two of the BTec First Units, Introduction to Computers Systems and Providing ICT Technical Support and Guidance and provides an opportunity to see how computers are used in a modern radio station.

The students are given an in depth look at and explanation of the transmission, communication and music broadcast equipment in the server room from Robin Duff the radio station technician, a talk by Peter Storry, the News Editor, on the Scoop program used to bring in all the news items from Sky News and last but not least a welcome into the studio from Cooky the 10.00am – 2:00pm workday presenter.
