European Week 2010

Increasing Awareness

This year’s European Week was again a great learning experience for our students, for the 562 primary school children, their teachers, and also for the members of college staff who organised and ran it.

During the week we welcomed pupils from Westgate, Nether Kellet, St Peter’s (Heysham), Torrisholme, St Luke’s (Slyne), St Bernadette’s, Dolphinholme, Leck St Peter’s, St Margaret’s, St Wilfrid’s (Melling), Dallas Road, Overton, Trumacar Community, Our Lady of Lourdes, St Luke’s  (Skerton), Christ Church (Carnforth),  Caton Community and  Ellel St John.

The Construction section were kept busy whilst the children manufactured trains out of wood from across Europe, the Library provided exercises in French and German and the Sports section had them involved with various European ball games.

Undoubtedly the aim of raising awareness of European aspects was fulfilled. Indeed comments from the children, teachers and students were very positive.
