Skills For Health
Skills For Health
Lancaster and Morecambe College and the NHS Skills Academy for Health have been working together on an employability programme for people who are on Incapacity benefit and are starting work placements in the NHS.
The initial part of the programme was delivered by the NHS; this was followed by sessions at LMC, where the group have gained qualifications in:
- Skills for Life
- Manual handling
- Emergency First Aid
- Intro to admin
- Health and Safety in the Workplace
The groups receive their certificates from David Wood at an end of course celebration on 5th February. The learners were all very positive about the programme, one learner commented, “It has given me more confidence with meeting other people and in the workplace.”
The learners will progress to taking an NVQ through LMC as part of their work placement. The programme has been a great example of partnership working and LMC’s commitment to working with people to improve their skills and life opportunities.
