Student Council
Student Council
Student Council is where main class reps, student officers and student governors get together once every half term to:
- Discuss cross-college areas and ask any questions to senior management
- Approve the Students’ Union finances and the work done by the officers
- Elect students to national conferences
A record of 39 students attended Student Council on 4th February. 12 students nominated themselves to be the LMC representatives at the National Union of Students (NUS) Annual Conference in April. After speeches and campaigning, it was a tightly run battle! 3 students were duly elected as the LMC representatives: Jason Hettrick (Access), Martin Young (Public Services) and Dan Faulkner (Hospitality).
National Representative Forum in Birmingham
At Student Council in December, five students were elected to attend the national forum at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.
The students (pictured right) were Jason Hettrick (Access), Mel Parker (Learning Curve), Stephen Taylor (i-Media), Martin Young (Public Services), and David Parada Capa (IT Practitioners).
They met students from across the UK and picked up lots of new ideas for LMC and the Students’ Union.
