Visual Art Show 2010

Make do and Mend

Tuesday 3rd March saw Lancaster & Morecambe College's annual celebration of live music, film and fashion. This year's theme was "Make do and Mend" with Art and Design students showcasing their innovative outfits made from recycled materials.

The evening began with solo performances from Music Performance Students before a showcase of films by Film & TV Production students including the Roads, Risks and Responsibilities film which was filmed in Italy as part of the Comenius project. The evening continued with group performances by the Music students and animations to highlight the 10:10 initiative which were made by Games Development Students.

The environmentally responsible theme continued with the finale to the evening; a fashion show in which Art and Design students took to the catwalk wearing their own creations made from recycled materials. All the garments were constructed from materials and fabrics that had previous uses, from cardboard to newspaper, carrier bags to old cardigans.

Programme Area Manger for Visual and Creative Studies, John Lambert said “The performance night is one of our most enjoyable of the year as all of our students are able to show off their skills and creativity. It’s fantastic to see students develop their confidence performing before a big audience of family and friends. We hope it’s an experience they’ll remember for years to come as they progress on to university and careers in the creative indisutries.”
