Appointments

All appointments at Lancaster & Morecambe College are subject to satisfactory references, medical clearance, CRB clearance and a probationary period. If you are appointed to a teaching role you will also be required to comply with relevant provisions relating to teaching qualifications. Training and Development Lancaster & Morecambe College was one of the first colleges in the north west to be awarded Investor in People status in 1994. We have a comprehensive professional development programme to ensure that staff have the opportunity to develop their skills and competencies within team and College priorities.

Staff Policies

The College has a number of supportive policies for sickness absence and occupational health, special leave, family and dependants’ leave, maternity, etc. Holiday entitlement starts at 26 days for business support staff, with lecturers benefiting from 35 days’ holiday, in addition to bank holidays and specified efficiency days. Hours of work are 37 per week for a full time post, with guidelines covering workloads and the working week, including provision for time off in lieu.

Pensions

All staff are entitled to join either the Local Government Pension Scheme or the Teachers' Pension Scheme (subject to scheme rules). Both are ‘final salary’ schemes, with staff contributing a percentage of monthly pay.
