Student Services - Equal Opportunities
As an equal opportunities college, we will endeavour to offer you the same high quality service regardless of age, colour, race, religious belief, language, ethnic origin, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, family responsibility, socio-economic status or disability/learning difficulties. For full details please refer to the equal opportunities policy.
Access
The college site has been adapted to provide access for wheelchair users and people with other mobility difficulties. Car parking spaces for disabled drivers are located at both sides of the campus. The college also has talking lifts and a range of enabling technologies available for students to use. If the class you wish to take is in an inaccessible room, we will change its location if we can.
Additional Learning Support
Your induction programme will include an assessment to help you decide, with the help of college staff, what learning support requirements you may have. This may relate to one-to-one support, access to specialist equipment, or learning materials provided in Braille, large print or audio files. It may also include help getting around or a sign language communicator.
If you would like any additional support with your learning, have a particular learning difficulty or require specialist assistance our learning support staff will give you the help you need to realise your potential.
If you don’t feel ready to take part in a mainstream classroom environment, we offer a range of flexible programmes designed to help you build your confidence and gain qualifications in small, supportive groups until you are ready to progress onto other college courses.
Specialist equipment is available to help students to progress on their courses including: large screen monitors, laptop computers, PCs with speech- recognition software, Brailler, radio aids, portable loops, hand-held tape recorders, one-handed keyboards and ergonomic chairs.
Disability Statement
If you would like LMC’s disability statement in Braille, large print or audio file, ask at Reception or Student Services. Please let us know if you have a disability or would benefit from specialist equipment so we can make all reasonable adjustments to help you succeed at LMC. For full details please refer to the disability equality scheme.
