Our advice is split into four categories, depending whether you are a school leaver or an adult learner, and depending whether you are interested in part time learner or full time learning.

Are you 16 - 19 years old and looking for a full time course?
You may already have some idea about you want to do or you may have no idea at all! Whatever your circumstances, contact Student Services who can give you guidance on all the opportunities open to you. We can offer you a range of courses leading to jobs, further training or higher education, as well as Apprenticeships where you get paid as you learn.
We also have details of courses on offer at other local colleges and sixth forms and we have software where you put in details of your skills, interests, likes and dislikes and it will suggest a range of suitable jobs, careers and courses for you. We will listen to what you want and will not try to make you come to College if it's not the place for you! We run a bus service from rural areas and you may be eligible to claim an EMA.

Are you 16 - 19 years old and looking for a part time course?
We have a range of part time courses to help you progress to further study or training and to help you into jobs and careers. Some people just study for interest or to see if they like the College before committing themselves to a full time course or because they want a particular qualification. Whatever it is that you want, you can talk to staff who will give you information, advice and guidance without judging you or trying to make you come to College. Some people know what they want to do and others have no idea - whatever your circumstances we can help you make decisions about your future.
If you are under 19 years old on the 31st August before your course starts, you are entitled to free tuition and exam fees for any of our vocational courses. If you are 16 to 19 years old at school, you can only do courses for free if they are outside school hours.

Are you an adult looking for a full time course?
Our College has hundreds of adult students studying full time courses here. Some are returning to study after having a family, some are people who didn't enjoy school and are now ready to make a fresh start, others are looking for a change in career or new opportunities. Whatever your circumstances we probably have a course to suit you, or can point you in the right direction if we don't. We also have computer software where you can enter your skills, interests, likes and dislikes and it will suggest careers, jobs and training that might be for you. We are members of the now! network of information, advice and guidance for adults in this region and can refer you to other organizations if we do not have the specialist knowledge to help you.
You will have to pay fees for a full time course unless you are in receipt of a means tested benefit. We may be able to help with the cost of childcare, travel to college and any specialist equipment required, for student in receipt of benefits. We also run a bus service from rural areas.

Are you an adult looking for a part time course?
Many adults choose to study part time courses to fit around domestic and work commitments. Some study for interest and a sense of achievement, others to improve their chances of gaining employment or to progress at work. Don't think you can't afford to do a course - courses are free to people receiving certain benefits and if you are studying 6 hours or more per week and are receiving benefits, we may be able to help you with the costs of childcare and any course equipment you require.
