Counselling Service

The college has a Counselling Service which is available to all students and staff of the college. If you are having problems at college or at home and would like to talk to someone in confidence then please get in touch (see below). Counselling offers you a safe non judgemental space to talk about any issues or feelings that are affecting you. To find out more:

Programme Mentors

The Programme Mentors work within Student Services and the Faculties and provide information, advice & support service to students experiencing difficulties that are affecting their studies. They also act as a signpost to other sources of support both within the college and to outside agencies if necessary. More about Programme Mentors

Careers Resources

A library of careers books is available in Student Services including higher education prospectuses and computer packages. You can also make an appointment to receive impartial careers advice and guidance or information about volunteering and gap year activities and employment.

JobShop

Part time vacancies, regional newspapers and information to help you improve your job seeking skills is provided to assist you in finding employment. We also run workshops to help with writing your CV and filling out job application forms.

Connexions

A Personal Adviser is available from Connexions to offer advice to young people on careers and educational matters.

Every student is supported by a Personal Tutor who will help you succeed on your course.

LMC Volunteers!

We offer a one-stop shop that provides information on regular and one-off volunteering opportunities in the local community. Volunteering is an excellent way to gain new experiences, meet new people, increase confidence, and all whilst doing something worthwhile that benefits others.

Gap Year Opportunities

Gap Years and Careers Breaks

We offer advice and guidance to staff and students on the wide range of opportunities available in a gap year or career break. Opportunities range from a few weeks to a few years, and include paid work, volunteering, travel and learning in the UK and abroad. They are great for people wanting a new experience away from home.
