Students’ Union - The Benefits

Students Union logo

Why be part of the Students’ Union?

There are loads of benefits of being involved in the Students’ Union!
You get to:

The Students' Union relies on your support and involvement and without it, it cannot function. We are always seeking more help, whatever level of commitment you can offer, and if you want to become more involved with the running of the union, why not become a union officer on the executive committee? Run or join a club or society? Organise a college gig? Promote student welfare? Whatever you fancy doing the Students’ Union can help make it happen!

NUS Cards

NUS Extra Card

NUS Extra Card

You can buy these online at www.nusextra.co.uk
NUS Extra offers over 100 discounts in stores and online including Rileys, McDonalds, Subway, Amazon, JJB, Matalan, STO Travel, AA Driving School etc – for these companies you need the Extra card to get the discounts. For local retailers and shops like Topshop and HMV you can get discounts with the Extra Card, Democracy Card or regular student ID.

The Extra Card is £10 and doubles up as an ISIC Card (International Student Card) giving you access to a further 35,000 discounts.
It isn’t a student proof of age card.

For every card sold, the Students’ Union gets £4. So far this year, the Extra card has raised over £200 for the collective student body and you can decide how this money is spent! Come along to the Goldfish Bowl (entrance to block D) for more information.

If you order an Extra Card online, the card gets sent to Adele Burrow, Student Liaison and Development Officer, in the Goldfish Bowl. She will email you when it is ready for collection.

NUS Democracy Card

The NUS Democracy Card is a democracy/ election card, not a student discount card – however some companies let you use it to get discounts (those companies who accept any form of student ID) like local retailers and Topshop and HMV. You can get this from the Goldfish Bowl or Student Services.
