LMC and Inspira have joined together to host a National Citizen Service (NCS) “Meet The Team” event at Lancaster & Morecambe College this month. Over 230 young people from our district (North Lancs/South Lakes) have already said ‘Yes to NCS’ and have signed-up to take part in the personal development programme - there are now fewer than 90 spaces left.
Aimed specifically at 15-17 year-olds, NCS is a chance for young people to come together and learn invaluable skills for the future. They will take part in team building, independence and leadership activities, over 2 residential weeks; the first one at an outdoor education centre and the second one, at a local university campus. Following this, the teams will be based at LMC for a week, where they will work closely local community groups & charities, getting involved and putting together a ‘social action’ plan.
The information event, which takes place on 24th February, will offer team-building sessions for the young people, and an ‘NCS Q&A’ presentation for parents. Local agencies will be on hand to talk about the positive impact previous NCS projects have had in the community, and there will be tours of the college campus.
If you have already signed-up for Summer 2018’s NCS experience, check your email for your invitation.
