This 15-week course has been designed to provide students with an introduction to the exciting world of games design and development.

This single unit qualification is designed for learners to develop an initial idea into a game prototype by creating visuals to show what the game will look like, as well as a design proposal that outlines aspects of the game. Learners will then present their game prototype and review their performance to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of games design and development process.

Entry Requirements

You will need a general education at entry level, enthusiasm for the subject area, commitment to study and to be able to work independently.

Course Activities

You will be introduced to concepts in games design and work towards producing a portfolio of experimental practical design and prototype work. This will include understanding how games should play and researching other practitioners’ work.

Progression Opportunities

Participants may wish to continue further Part Time study at Lancaster & Morecambe College in the following courses:

  • Digital Photography

  • Printmaking

  • Introduction to Painting

  • Music Studio Recording

Course Fees

This course costs £108.00, including exam fees.

You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
