This course is designed for learners who are already qualified at Level 2 in Nail Technology and wish to further develop their skills and knowledge in this area of expertise.

This course is an NVQ Level 3 in Nail Services which includes advanced nail techniques including the use of electric files along with sculpting techniques in gel and acrylic.

The course consists of both practical and theory-based delivery and practical assessments must be carried out on models opposed to peers and therefore we strongly recommend learners are prepared to supply models for assessment purposes.

In addition to theoretical exams and practical assessments you will expected to produce a portfolio of evidence.

This course can be studied one evening per week for the academic year and will involve some home study.

Course Overview

Units that will be studied on this course include:

  • Monitor procedures to safely control work operations

  • Enhance and maintain nails using UV gel

  • Enhance and maintain nails using liquid and powder

  • Prepare and finish nail overlays using electric files

We offer several activities on this course including trips, guest speaker visits and additional one-day training opportunities including spray tanning, ear-piercing and lash lifts. Guest Speakers invited throughout the year include Steiner Onboard Spa and Eve Taylor.

You will study in our state-of-the-art salons with industry recognised products.

Progression Routes

Students may choose to continue their studies within College by progressing onto one of the following courses:

  • Level 3 Beauty Therapy FT or PT

  • Level 2 Hair & Media Make-up FT

  • Level 3 Theatrical & Media Make-up FT

Upon completion of this course students will also have the opportunity to move into employment as a Nail Technician and may choose to work in a salon, on a cruise ship or as a self-employed mobile technician.

Entry Requirements

To apply for this course, you must hold a Level 2 Nail Technology qualification.

The qualification is suitable for anyone already employed in a Beauty establishment or anyone who wishes to acquire expertise in this area. As you will be working with members of the public you need to be enthusiastic, confident and enjoy working with people on a daily basis. To remain on the course, you will need to show your commitment to the course by having excellent attendance, punctuality and behaviour.

Course Fees

This course costs £2583.00, including exam fees.

You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
