This CMI supported Level 5 Apprenticeship programme has been specifically designed to provide an intense programme of learning and personal development in order to develop and improve core leadership & management skills, knowledge, and associated behaviours and is part of the Leadership & Management Academy at LMC.

This Level 5 course is an Advanced Level course and is delivered by a team of experienced Leaders, Managers and Lecturers who have extensive experience of organisational culture, psychology, business planning & strategy, business improvement and applying theory to practice.

The programme duration for this Apprenticeship is between 18-24 months depending upon progress made.

Course Overview

Being part of the Leadership & Mangement Academy is course offers a comprehensive programme of learning enables each participant to demonstrate how they are able to apply leadership and management theories into the present day, real-world situations they encounter within their business. If you feel it is time to up-skill yourself, or your workforce, with a qualification that can add true value to the individual and organisation, then this Apprenticeship could be the option to explore.

When applying contemporary thinking to your workplace, you may explore a variety of activities such as strategic planning, making change, creating & delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading & managing teams, talent management and supporting people through coaching & mentoring.

There are various areas of study that we will explore and they will be challenging, informative, fun and applicable to your role and organisation. They will include:

  • Business Planning & Strategy

  • Operational Planning & Management

  • Leadership & Management Theories

  • Building & Managing High Performance Teams

  • Professional & Personal Development for Leaders & Managers

  • Communication in Leadership & Management

  • Organisational Psychology & its Applications to Leadership & Management

The minimum commitments for this course are that you are able to attend one 3hr taught session per month in College and undertake a minimum of one 2hr one-one session, with your assessor in the work place, per month.

Outside of this there needs to be a commitment to reading, research, attending guest speaker lectures and self-study throughout the duration of the course. This is a comprehensive programme of learning and requires a high degree of motivation and organisational skills.

This Apprenticeship will be assessed with 3 main components:

  • Component 1 – A professional discussion, underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.

  • Component 2 – A project proposal with 4000 words

  • Component 3 - A presentation with questions and answers

The Leadership & Management Academy@LMC is able to tailor the Leadership & Management Apprenticeship programmes to specific industries and has successfully worked with cohorts from various sectors including Education, Manufacturing and Care.

Progression Routes

Upon successful completion of this qualification you may progress on to university study to continue your training, or you may choose to move on to further Full Time work in industry alongside further CPD training or CMI registration.

Entry Requirements

Each prospective employer will set their own selection criteria for this Apprenticeship however, most participants will be expected to hold 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including grade C/4 in English and Maths.*

To study this course, you should also have:

  • A high level of oral and written skills for reports and presentations

  • A good level of IT

  • Enthusiasm for leadership and management

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • A commitment to study (attendance, punctuality & behaviour)

  • An ability to work independently

Prior experience may also be considered.

*If participants do not have the required grade C/4 in English and Maths the College will support you to achieve this before course completion.
