Are you exploring your career or study options, writing or checking your CV, preparing for interview, applying for university, finding out how or where to apply for jobs or apprenticeships? The College Advice Service is here to help you.

We offer:

  • Help to explore your career or study options
  • Support with CV writing or updating your CV
  • Useful tips and techniques for job and university interviews
  • University application support
  • Help and support with job and apprenticeship opportunities

We are based in The Hexagon Student & Learning Centre and provide a drop in service or you can make an appointment.
We arrange careers events throughout the year for students, with a variety of employers, universities and other organisations attending.

Our nominated Careers Leader is Valerie Osborne. Careers Leaders have responsibility for the delivery of a cross-college careers programme.
This involves planning and managing careers provision and working with local employers, providers, and education establishments.
The College works to standards for careers education and advice that will meet the expectations set out in the Gatsby Benchmarks by 2020.

• The intended destinations of young people from College are tracked and we will use this information to improve the effectiveness of the careers programme



Our Advice Team provide advice and support for students planning to study higher education, including:

• Applying to university
• Writing a personal statement
• Choosing your course
• University interviews



Our Advice Team and Tutors offer a wide range of services to help students find employment and make an informative choice about their future career. Our services include:

• Workshops and talks with employers
• Visits to employer work places
• Job search – how to find and apply for vacancies
• How to write a CV and covering letter
• How to fill in application forms
• Succeeding at interview
• CV updating
• Mock interviews
