Early Years Educator CourseEarly Years Educator

Our Children’s Play, Learning & Development Early Years Educator BTEC Level 3 course is not like any other in the local area... with our specialised programme you will earn ‘Early Years Educator’ status which means you will be ‘occupationally competent’ to work with children.

Upon successful completion of the two year course, equivalent to three A-Levels, you will be able to gain employment, or you can progress into higher education.

In order to achieve the qualification and be occupationally competent you will need to complete 750 hours in three work placement settings and be assessed by subject specialist tutors; something which is not offered by all other local providers and schools.

Where does it lead?

Past students have gone on to study degrees in Primary Education, Working with Children and Families, and Early Years, at various settings that included the University of Cumbria and Edge Hill University. Employment opportunities include working in nurseries, children’s centres, and schools as early years practitioners, family support workers and teaching assistants. Other students have worked abroad as children’s holiday representatives in resorts and on cruise liners.

“I have been a student at Lancaster & Morecambe College for the last four years, progressing from the Level 1 course to successfully completing the Level 3 qualification in Children’s Play, Learning and Development. All of the tutors were very supportive and helpful and the lessons were interesting. I gained experience at six different placement settings and loved my time at all of them. I have now gained employment as a Level 3 practitioner in a local nursery.”
