The full time courses include a large proportion of work experience in a variety of placement settings where you will be able to apply theory to your practice. There is the opportunity to progress through the levels of courses, and once completed there are fantastic employment opportunities in the local area. If you choose the Apprenticeship route, you will have access to an experienced and knowledgeable assessor throughout the work-based qualification.
Caroline Openshaw, Head of Child Education
“I have been a student at Lancaster & Morecambe College for the last four years, progressing from the Level 1 course to successfully completing the Level 3 qualification in Children’s Play, Learning and Development. All of the tutors were very supportive and helpful and the lessons were interesting. I gained experience at six different placement settings and loved my time at all of them. I have now gained employment as a Level 3 practitioner in a local nursery.”
Natasha Parkinson, Children’s Play, Learning and Development
Past students have gone on to study degrees in Primary Education, Working with Children and Families, and Early Years, at various settings that included the University of Cumbria and Edge Hill University. Employment opportunities include working in nurseries, children’s centres, and schools as early years practitioners, family support workers and teaching assistants.
