Course Overview

Studying the Joinery Level 3 Apprenticeship gives you the scope to develop a broader skill set and can give you the platform to progress into management, university courses and even becoming the owner of your own business. The Joinery tasks included in the Level 3 course are of a bespoke nature and will lead to the fine tuning of your practical ability and skill sets. The in-house training include the study of 24 practical units of an advanced nature, rendering you ready for End Point Assessment Your employer will be working directly with us to ensure you are ready for this exciting challenge. Video evidence will be uploaded regularly to represent the advanced skills you will be achieving whilst on site.

This is a qualification that requires you to have employment of a minimum 30 hours per week and you will be required to attend college regularly, usually once per week. You will be assessed through projects, assignments, case studies and exams.

During the course, you will absorb all of the information that you need with regard to forging ahead with your chosen career in Joinery. We provide a lifelike representation of the workplace on our College campus, allowing you to become even more confident and proficient.

By the time you leave us, you will feel confident in the Construction workplace and be ready to produce some outstanding pieces of workmanship to a superior level. The completion of this course shows potential future employers a dedication and commitment from yourself to complete your training to the highest level available in the College setting.

At the end of the course you will be a fully qualified Apprentice in Level 3 Standards: Carpentry & Joinery (including Bench Joinery), and you will receive NVQ Level 3 Certification in this field.

All students gain work experience throughout their course with supportive and inspiring employers to enhance their employability skills and further their knowledge in the Construction industry. This Apprenticeship could lead to a long-term job opportunity or give you a great foundation for progressing onto starting your own business at locally or abroad.

You will be provided with your own Training Coordinator who will be there from day one of your Apprenticeship right through to the end. They are there to answer any questions you may have and to provide you with support throughout your training with us. The coordinator will make regular site visits, usually with the tutor, which allows us to see you in a relaxed environment, doing what you enjoy.

Upon completion of this course, some of our previous learners have gone on to run successful businesses, others have gone abroad and combined work and travel, and some have relocated abroad permanently.

Entry Requirements

To study this Apprenticeship you must:

  • Show enthusiasm for the subject

  • Demonstrate a commitment to study (attendance, punctuality & behaviour)

  • Be able to work independently and in small groups

  • Be employed for a minimum 30 hours per week

  • Commit to regularly collect evidence from your workplace to support your portfolio

You must also have 5 GCSES at grade 4/C or above, including both English and Maths.
