Apprentices have the opportunity to attend the College’s Skills Academy sessions which address a range of topics such as: Communication Skills, Influencing & Negotiating, Networking and Resilience. Students will also be able to take part in taught group sessions and guest speaker talks.

Your Apprenticeship skills, knowledge and behaviours will be split into 5 key focus areas:

• Customer

• Business

• People

• First Line Supervision/Team Leading

• Food & Beverage Service OR Food Production

As an apprentice you will be continuously assessed in your workplace throughout your Apprenticeship by your advisor, face to face and remotely. Apprentices will take part in a mix of blended learning with a focus on developing the students’ confidence in communicating via online platforms.

End-point assessment (EPA) is the final stage that an apprentice goes through to complete their Apprenticeship. The apprentice must demonstrate their learning to an independent end-point assessor and the grades available are distinction, pass or fail. There are four assessment events for this standard and the professional discussion must be the last one completed:

On-demand test

A 90-minute, on-demand, multiple-choice test, comprised of scenario-based questions.

Practical observation

A three-hour observation of the apprentice in their working environment. It will involve the apprentice covering a range of tasks. This test can be split to cover preparation and service.

Business project

This section will comprise a project looking at an idea/opportunity to make improvements to the business. It will require a research phase and will be presented to the employer and an independent assessor.

Professional discussion

A 40-minute structured meeting. The discussion will focus on the skills and knowledge gained on programme.

Upon completion of this Apprenticeship apprentices may choose to progress onto the Hospitality Supervisor Level 3 Apprenticeship or may choose to move on to further full time work within the industry.

You must have 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or higher including Maths or English.
