The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Public Services is a two year full time, work related course. This course is designed so that year one is focused on the HNC syllabus at level 4 while the 2nd year leads to the HND.
This exciting and challenging course sets graduates up for careers in The Armed Forces, The Police Service, The Fire and Rescue Service and HM Prison Service just to name a few.
Students will study the theories surrounding public policy and organisational management, as well as gaining essential practical skills that are essential to public sector work.
The course fuses practical and theoretical learning strategies to ensure that students really benefit and enjoy the academic content. Work experience placements form an integral part of the course, allowing students to build their own network of contacts in the public sector whilst enhancing their employability.
This course is designed for Higher Education learners the course will include a substantial amount of careers related learning designed to support progression to the suitable next step, this could include employability skills and employer encounters such as guest speakers.
Students can expect to develop careers in a wide range of public services. The completion of the HND also leads to the top up year at one of our partner universities to gain their full degree.
You will need one of the following:
• A Level points score of 64 UCAS points.
• Public Services Extended Diploma Level 3 at merit/pass/pass
• Relevant NVQ level 3
• Access Diploma
PLUS GCSE maths and English at grade C/4 or higher. Mature students without these qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
