What do I need to join?
3 GCSEs at grade A* - C or a Level 2 related qualification, PLUS GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or higher.
You will need to be working or volunteering in a relevant job role for at least 6 weeks prior to starting the course. You can complete the qualification as a paid worker or volunteer but must be in the childcare setting for at least 15 hours per week. You must also have a mentor in the workplace and be able to shadow your mentor to assist completing or independently complete learning journeys.
Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
NVQs are nationally recognised qualifications that establish your competence against industry standards in your area of employment. They are studied in the workplace and can be started at a time to suit you. NVQ qualifications can be used to enhance your career opportunities, update your skills and prove capability in your job role.
Who is this course for?
This course is for learners who work in, or who want to work in, the early years education workforce in England.
The qualification will allow you to demonstrate competence as an Early Years Educator, Child minder or Nursery Nurse and develop your knowledge and skills related to these job roles, as well as develop your own personal growth and engagement in learning.
This qualification requires you to spend time in a real work environment working with children aged 0-8 years.

Expert assessors support the Apprentices to achieve their qualification in the workplace and develop the skills and qualities to be excellent staff for Rising Stars.
Utilising the range of qualifications on offer from the College, Rising Stars have also supported their existing staff to achieve the Level 2 and Level 3 childcare qualifications. They have also developed employees skills further with ITQ and customer service training.
