This course offers a theoretical and practical application of knowledge of Engineering. The course will cover both, electrical and mechanical engineering aspects, providing you with a grounded introduction to the world of engineering.
This course is designed for 16-18 year old and adult learners, the course will include a substantial amount of careers related learning designed to support progression to the suitable next step, this could include educational trips, employability skills and employer encounters such as guest speakers. For 16-18 year old learners this will be delivered as a study programme which includes math and English where applicable and work experience.
The course can lead onto university level study, such as a HND or foundation degree in Engineering.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher including Maths and English OR a Level 2 related qualification PLUS grade C/4 or higher in BOTH Maths and English.
You will study the following units:
• Engineering materials
• Electronic, Control and Instrumentation
• Mechanical Structures and Dynamics
• Manufacturing methods in Engineering
• Engineering Design (including CAD/CAM)
• Engineering Mathematics and Stats
All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
There will be two external assessments and a synoptic assignment.
On completion of this course you will receive a City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate in Engineering. This is equivalent to 2 A Levels and a recognised route to Higher Education.
