Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a number of exciting projects supported by the Government’s Strategic Development Fund to accelerate the green agenda and promote low-carbon services and practices.
Lancashire Colleges will be working in partnership with employers to identify skills shortages and ways to promote sustainability and net-zero practices in a number of sectors. The projects will develop state-of-the-art facilities and high-quality learning materials to promote sustainability.

Lancaster & Morecambe College are looking for a number of self-motivated individuals to implement projects which are funded until March 31st, 2022. For this post, a commitment to sustainability and experience/knowledge of sustainable energy, construction, manufacturing or engineering is an advantage.

Post subject to final confirmation of project funding.

Working as part of the Strategic Development Fund Project team, you will engage with employers to produce low carbon training needs analyses and manage employer relationships to support the SDF project.
You will be educated to NVQ Level 3 (or have equivalent skills and experience) and ideally have a qualification or experience in Information, Advice & Guidance. Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations successfully are essential to the role. You will have experience of developing training needs analyses, working in a sales environment and be confident in networking situations.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities

Job Purpose:  

  • To engage with employers to produce low carbon training needs analysis
  • To manage employer relationships to support the SDF external funded project   

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with Employer Engagement Team to develop new and established relationships with local SMEs.

  2. Manage own time effectively to engage with a range of employers from a range of sectors.

  3. Effectively engage with employers to produce low carbon energy training needs analyses.

  4. Collaborate with SDF Project Team to review sustainable energy skills gaps identified by employers.

  5. In collaboration with the SDF Project Team, develop and share innovative solutions to training need requirements with employers.

  6. Support with the development and promotion of the College’s Sustainable Energy Hub as a networking and event facility

  7. Ensure accurate and efficient records for employer activity and engagement are maintained on approved systems agreed by Senior Management and SDF Project Team.

  8. Engage effectively with the Lead Organisation and The Lancashire College Group to successfully manage the project.

  9. Engage effectively with curriculum teams to maximise opportunities to enhance and enrich teaching and learning for current students.

  10. Engage effectively with central cross college teams to ensure all standards and requirements are met such as: Health and Safety, and Finance.

  11. Support and promote the development of learning resources with employers.

  12. Support the development and implementation of the College CRM system and processes.

  13. Other duties commensurate with the grade of post as required.

Experience 

Essential - Measured by application form and interview

  • Experience of engaging with local employers and internal departments
  • Experience and confident in networking situations
  • Experience of developing training needs analyses
  • Experience in sales and marketing environment
  • Experience of working in a sustainable/low carbon energy environment or of working towards low carbon goals in business

Desirable - Measured by application form and interview

  • Experience of working in an education-related field
  • Experience in market research 

Qualifications

Essential - Measured by application form

  • Qualified to minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above (or equivalent Level 2)
  • Level 2 Information, Advice and Guidance

  • Team Leading or Supervisory Management Qualification
