Job Description

We have a vacancy in the Hairdressing team delivering training in a full range of hairdressing and barbering courses to fulltime students and apprentices, in our industry standard salons at Lancaster & Morecambe College.

Applications from qualified teachers with recent experience of teaching hairdressing in a Further Education environment will be considered.

Alternatively, a new funding opportunity through the Education and Training Foundation’s ‘Taking Teaching Further’ scheme has enabled us to open this opportunity to experienced industry professionals looking for a new challenge and career move to teaching. This might be the time to consider teaching as a second career, passing on your skills to the next generation.

The funding will allow us to help you transition to a dual professional teaching role at the College, supporting comprehensive on-the-job training, including initial teacher training qualification.

We would expect you to have a keen interest in the development of young people entering the profession and be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and teaching potential.

Whether you are well-established in a teaching career within the sector, or only just thinking about it, this opportunity may be perfect for you.

If you would like an informal chat to learn more about the role, please contact Zoe Petrou (Programme Area Manager) initially via email: z.petrou@lmc.ac.uk.   A phone call can then be arranged if appropriate.

Longer term benefits of this permanent post include: support into a new exciting dual professional career; defined benefits pension scheme; generous leave entitlement; opportunities for continuing professional development; and good staff support services.
