Job Description

Are you an experienced professional looking for a new challenge and career change? Have you considered teaching, and passing on your skills to the next generation?

Lancaster & Morecambe College are seeking a Lecturer in Health and Social Care who can deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment, and who will provide an excellent learning experience which ensures high achievement for all students.

The main focus of this role will be to teach and assess in nursing / clinically-based subject areas such as physiological disorders and their care; anatomy and physiology; infection prevention and control; mental wellbeing; and human body systems.

You will deliver courses from Level 2 to Level 4 in the Health and Social Care team, and act as a course manager to specific groups. The role will also focus on developing Higher Education provision and support engagement with our NHS partnership. You will have relevant recent vocational experience in a nursing or clinical setting and will be teacher qualified or willing to undertake this training. Support and mentoring are provided for those new to teaching.

Lancaster & Morecambe College is working in partnership with the Education and Training Foundation to deliver ‘Taking Teaching Further’. This additional funding provides a unique opportunity for industry professionals to transition to a dual professional teaching role at the College. The funding will support your comprehensive on-the-job training programme, including initial teacher training qualification; individual support and mentoring; and a reduced teaching workload in the first year.

The role, and associated funding, is open to external candidates who have worked for a minimum of 3 years, and within the last 18 months, in a clinical role within the health & social care sector, and who do not yet hold a substantive teaching qualification. We would expect you to have a keen interest in the development of young people entering the profession and be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and teaching potential.

If you would like an informal chat to learn more about the role, please contact Caroline Openshaw (Programme Area Manager): c.openshaw@lmc.ac.uk.  A phone call can then be arranged.

Benefits include defined benefits pension scheme, generous leave entitlement, opportunities for continuing professional development and good staff support services. Please note, CVs are not accepted.
