Computing Student Lands Job on Placement
Computing & Digital Technology students recently completed their work placement and one determined student secured a job with a savvy digital design agency from it.
16 year old Olivia Lloyd travels to campus on the College’s free bus service and when the work placement element of her course came around, she asked if her employer could be local to her.
The former Ulverston Victoria High School pupil proactively contacted a company in her local area, that she was eager to work with to ask if they would be able to offer her a placement position and they agreed. That company was Christian Coates Creative Ltd in Barrow-in-Furness.
Company director Christian Coates was incredibly impressed with the whole experience but especially with Olivia, saying “Olivia has been an absolute diamond, she has worked extremely hard, taken on any challenge that we have given her, learnt lots of new skills, come to the office for over the minimum required hours and her timekeeping has been fantastic – always in when we agreed for her to be in. Her attitude towards work has been amazing, she is friendly, polite and very hardworking."
Christian went on to say, “We are so proud of Olivia and agree she is a massive asset to the Company, so much so we offered her a part time position which she gladly accepted. All of us at Christian Coates Creative are really looking forward to welcoming Olivia as an employed member of the team and know that with the hard work she puts in on a daily basis her future is going to be really bright.”
Olivia will complete this part time work around her studies at LMC allowing her to practice the theory and new concepts she learns at college in a supportive real-life working environment.
