Computing Students Impress Businesses
Both students expressed an interest in working with the business and Nublue were happy to offer opportunities to both students. Students spent over their minimum of 30 hours work experience required, with the business, learning about the software the company use to create their high performing ecommerce websites for national brands as well as how to use this software to solve ‘real-world’ problems.
The students made a positive impact at Nublue and their mentors said, “Sam’s a real talented developer in the making - one we would very much look forward to seeing applications from in the future.” and “Robin was a delight to work with and given time he would make a great developer as he’s naturally got the cool and calm approach to problem solving which is a great personality trait.”
Work Placement Coordinator, Sarah Armstead, said, “Sam and Robin really enjoyed their time at Nublue, learning many new skills that they have already begun implementing in their College projects. They have been fabulous ambassadors for LMC, highlighting the motivation and drive our students have to achieve and develop in their chosen field of interest.”
Samuel, has even returned to the company since his work experience to demonstrate to Nublue employees a project he was given as ‘homework’ to build a specific piece of software, which the Production Manager at Nublue, Andrew Bailey said was “very impressive” and explained that, “Samuel is showing some great initiative, something very rare in young developers – I’m hoping I have a future employee”.
Both students have impressed Nublue employees so much that manager, Andrew Bailey has said “I’d be more than happy to undertake this exercise again, I feel it’s been a rich experience for both the students and for the guys here who were able to mentor and hopefully inspire the students too”.
