HND Sport students have engaged in a series of cricket coaching sessions with Grosvenor Park Primary School.

The students delivered a range of activities to enhance the school children's knowledge of cricket. The coaching was also preparation for the children who were participating in a cricket competition at LMC against other local primary schools.

Lancashire Cricket Foundation Development Coach, Steve Pemberton, has been working with the HND Sport students for many weeks to develop their cricket coaching skills. Steve has been integral in the development of cricket for Sport students at LMC. Steve has delivered a range of coaching sessions and initiatives to the students to enhance their cricket coaching skills and knowledge.

HND Level 5 Sports student Sarah Earl said "Whilst at Grosvenor Park we worked with a range of ages and abilities delivering cricketing sessions and preparing them to play in our round robin tournament held at LMC. Individually, we worked with two students so that they get more coaching and could progress their skills further. The coaching was a positive experience for me as I got to work with a higher level county player in the group which matches my Level 2 cricket coaching ability.”

Sarah has also been supporting in the delivery of an after school cricket club with her ongoing employment with Cumbria Cricket. "I have worked with four schools over a six week period to deliver the Chance to Shine programme in PE lessons and after school clubs. This programme developed the children's cricket skills and enabled them to understand the rules leading up to the County Kwik Cricket Festivals."
