FA Accreditation for LMC Sports Students
Lancaster and Morecambe College Football Academy & Level 3 Sport students have successfully completed their FA Level 1 in Coaching Football qualification.
The course was organised through our partnership with Lancashire Football Association and was delivered by their qualified FA Tutors using LMC’s fantastic sports facilities.
The qualification is the first step on the coaching pathway and provides students with an introduction to coaching football & working with players from under seven to open age.
Learners engaged in a range of workshops, practical assessments and e-learning modules which included; the roles & qualities of a coach, principles and practices of play, long-term player development, The FA’s Plan, Do, Review model and England DNA. The course also incorporated the FA Safeguarding Children Workshop & FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football.
Football Academy & Sport students use their FA Level 1 qualification to deliver football and sport sessions for school children in the local community, achieve employment in the LMC Community Sports Centre and work in a range of regional sports organisations and leisure centres.
LMC Football Academy Coach, David Scambler said “the students showed great application to all aspects of the course which they really enjoyed. The Level 1 in Football Coaching qualification is also an excellent part of the Football Academy and Sports programmes that we run here at LMC”.
LMC Sport & Public Services Deputy Programme Area Manager, Gary Kelly, said “The FA Level 1 qualification is a brilliant opportunity for Football Academy & Sport students to gain essential work related experience and Employability Skills to support their personal and professional development. LMC is a selected Association of Colleges Football 'Super Hub' and Grassroots Tier 2 Football Hub. These awards are a testament to LMC’s excellent football provisions which support all our learners to develop and enhance their football skills & knowledge”.
Sport Students also have the opportunity to access European Visits for coaching and cultural exchanges to Spain, France, Poland & Bulgaria.
Football Academy students have the opportunity to complete their National Citizen Service Award which includes a residential visit, Personal & Social Development programme & Social Action project. As part of their training programme, Academy players attend a fitness session each week at Bayfit Gym in addition to the daily football coaching programme that the students receive from UEFA qualified tutors.
