College is very different from school in that there is more independence and I feel that it helps people get ready for the real world. The facilities like The Hex are also features which helped make my decision to come to college.

What have you done since leaving Lancaster & Morecambe College?
I have since joined the local accounting firm Scott and Wilkinson in Lancaster on a full time basis as a trainee accountant. The firm gave me the opportunity to have a week of work experience whilst in the second year of my college course. I am soon going to start my accounting exams in order to get the qualifications that I need to become an accountant.

What is your favourite thing about your job?
My favourite thing about my job is that it is a new challenge and I am always learning new things. It is also exciting to get into the real world of work and to see how things are done. As well as this the people are very welcoming and my colleagues have made my start to work very enjoyable.

Why did you choose to study at LMC?
I wanted a change at the end of school after my GCSE’s, college is very different from school in that there is more independence and I feel that it helps people get ready for the real world. The facilities like The Hex are also features which helped make my decision to come to college.

What were the best bits about your course?
Aside from the amount that I have learnt from the course in terms of business, the people that were associated with the course were also a big part of the experience at college. The tutors were always happy to help and clearly cared about their students and the students themselves proved to be great friends.

Why did you choose your course?
I wanted to go to college as a change from school, the specific course that I chose was because I wanted to get into business. The reason for this was because it is an open course and can lead to a lot of things.

What would you say to someone who was thinking about studying business at LMC?
I would say that they should go for it if they want to meet new people and have great experiences. The course has connections to many local businesses in the area and can often set up things like work experience for its students, I feel like this is vital for the development of young people and their careers.
