David George Mace
Course taken: Business and Enterprise Level 3
Is this the first course you have done at LMC? Yes
What are the best things about your course?
Without doubt the tutors as they were there when you needed a helping hand. They made the course fun and I enjoyed the way they tested out new ways of learning. I really liked the practical side of the course which included going out and testing ideas, such as being able to lead a team to try to make as much money as you could by running a cake sale or raffle, all this contributed towards our assignments.
Why did you choose your course?
I chose the course as I just love making money, so it was a no brainer to do a course that would extend my knowledge in business.
Why did you choose Lancaster & Morecambe College?
I chose the college because it’s where my two sisters studied and they both left with qualifications.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the course?
Just do it! My time at LMC was the best two years of my educational life. The amount of people I met, the friendships I made, and of course the qualifications I gained were well worth it.
What has been your biggest accomplishment whilst studying at LMC?
When I was at college the biggest accomplishment was that my confidence grew so much. At the start of the course I hated presenting in front of people, but now I don’t mind. I’ve learnt so much that will help me build my businesses. I’ve also gained contacts in the Czech Republic which I met thanks to the college and my tutors for nominating me.
What do you hope to do when you’ve completed this course?
Whilst studying at the college I put together a business plan, which I used to open up my first company, Mace Auctions Ltd. I’ve recently opened my second company, Rim Blades North West Ltd and now have a shop where I export products all over the world. It’s been 4 months since I completed the course and I have done so much thanks to all the help from my tutors and The College.
