What are the best things about your course?
The best things about my course is that it is sport based. You get to try different sports as well as the ones you already know and the theory is done within this. I have developed a really good rapport with the tutors and they have always been happy to help and support us throughout the year.
Why did you choose your course?
I chose this course as it was recommended by one of my cricket coaches who had previously completed the course.
Why did you choose Lancaster & Morecambe College?
I wanted a fresh start from school and to meet new people who share the same interests as me.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the course?
If you like playing sport and are interested in aspects like; Strength and Conditioning, Performance Analysis and Sports Coaching then this is an ideal course for you.
What has been your biggest accomplishment whilst studying at LMC?
The year has gone really quick, I have enjoyed being here and studying a specific subject that I am interested in. My biggest accomplishment is getting distinction grades in all of my units. My confidence has grown so much through being on this course, by doing things like coaching sessions for my group. I came here on my own from school and that made me more independent as I had to make new friends.
What do you hope to do when you’ve completed this course?
I am progressing onto the Level 3 Sport course at college and I am really looking forward to it. In the future I would like to be a Cricket Coach, however my big dream is to be a Professional Cricketer.
Any other comments?
College has really improved my wider skills as well as my knowledge of Sports Coaching. I have gained more independence which is something I may not have got from staying on at school.
I play county cricket for Durham and I am in a Regional Development Centre which is also based in Durham. This course has enabled me to gain an added insight into the technical and tactical aspects of my sport. I can now look at my assessments to see how I am performing and what are my strengths and areas to develop.
