Course taken: Sport Level 3
School Attended: Queen Katherine School
What are you doing after College?
Once I finish my current course I hope to carry on at Lancaster & Morecambe College doing the HND course and working part-time for one year. I am then planning on taking a gap year, travelling and hopefully doing some sports coaching around the world. I then hope to study Sports Coaching and Development at either Edge Hill or Northumbria University.
What were the best bits about your course?
The best bit about the course are the trips that you have the opportunity to go on. I recently went to Club La Santa, Lanzarote and despite having an injury I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and I hope to go again next year. I am also travelling to Berlin in summer with the British College Hockey Team. I gained this opportunity through Lancaster & Morecambe College and think it will benefit me greatly. This course also gives you the chance to do coaching in lots of different countries such as Bulgaria, Slovakia and Holland.
Why did you choose your course?
I learnt quite a lot about this course at school and decided it was the best pathway for me. I have always had an interest in sport, especially the coaching side of it and saw this course as an opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills in this field. As I would like to go into a career in sport I had no interest in studying different subjects at sixth form and wanted to focus solely on sport.
Why did you choose Lancaster & Morecambe College?
Lancaster & Morecambe College was recommended to me by lots of different people. I knew a number of people from school and my hockey club who had studied here and they all highly recommend it. I preferred it to my local college as the facilities were better and I saw this as an opportunity to meet new people and be in a different environment.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the course?
This course is excellent for anyone who loves sport. I would recommend the course as the facilities are great, there is free transport and the tutors are all very supportive. This course also has a great mix of theory and practical which gives you the chance to try new sports and gain experiences you won’t get anywhere else.
