Course taken at college: Pre-access to Healthcare and Access to Healthcare
Is this the first course you studied at College?
No, when I left school I did NVQ Level 1, 2 and 3 in Hospitality & Catering.
What were the best bits about your course?
The tutors support and have time for you. As a student with no knowledge about healthcare I feel that the tutors give you total support and work at your pace so you understand the subject you are studying. Also, the amount of confidence this course has given me and the friends I made. Finally the different things I have learnt in depth about different healthcare and health issues.
Why did you choose your course?
I chose this course because I want to progress on to university and study paramedic science. A friend had recently qualified from this course and now studies nursing at university and recommended that I should go on to this course. (Best choice ever)
Why did you choose Lancaster & Morecambe College?
The college is accessible as a local resident and I find that tutors and staff are really nice and friendly and make you feel welcome. I really enjoyed my time at College last time, so it was the best choice for me as I already knew what the college was like.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the course?
Don’t think you can’t do it...push the boundaries and it is very rewarding knowing that one day it will make you and your family proud. Prepare to put in hard work but it’s worth it at the end.
What has been your biggest accomplishment whilst studying at LMC?
I have to say my biggest accomplishment while studying at LMC is gaining a lot of confidence to pursue my career as a paramedic. Also learning new knowledge about different things within a healthcare setting. Completing the pre access course because before I started the course I was recovering from surgery so didn’t think I would complete it.
What do you hope to do when you have completed the course?
After this course I’m hoping to progress on to university to study paramedic science, with the hope of one day qualifying as a paramedic.
Anything else you would like to tell us?
Chase the dream…don’t give up!
