The trips were amazing, we visited universities for competitions and campus tours, attended careers fairs, completed teamwork days at places such as Lancaster Escape Rooms and Great Tower and were even given opportunities to travel abroad. Our course offered international trips to Disneyland Paris and the opportunity to undertake a two-week, all expenses paid, work placement in Italy!

Fabrizia Todd chose to study at Lancaster & Morecambe College (LMC) after seeing the positive experiences her older siblings had received at the College, both of who are now in jobs directly related to the courses they studied.

Fabrizia really liked the way the course was structured, especially the focus on assignments and coursework, rather than exams, which suited her style of learning much better. The fact that she could access free travel to College, was also an appealing factor for her.

Fabrizia praised her tutors, Sarah and Jon, explaining the high level of support they provided her:

I went into the course with no prior knowledge of Business, unlike most my classmates who had studied Business at GCSE. My tutors recognised this and made sure to explain everything in depth for me and offer extra help if it was needed.

When talking about her time studying Business & Enterprise Level 3, Fabrizia explained the impact the course had on her professional and personal skills:

Studying at LMC helped me grow my confidence so much; before studying at LMC I found it impossible to present anything in front of other people but now it feels natural. My course also helped me learn a lot about interview processes and I believe that experience is one of the main reasons I was hired for my current role at Morrison’s.

Fabrizia’s favourite part of her course was completing the teamwork unit which took place at the start of her two-year course, which allowed her and her classmates to get to know each other and become comfortable and confident around each other. Fabrizia also highlighted the variety of trips and visits available to her:

The opportunities the College gave me were amazing; we attended a talk from BBC The Apprentice contestant Lewis Ellis, visited universities for competitions and campus tours, attended careers fairs, completed teamwork days at places such as Lancaster Escape Rooms and Great Tower and were even given opportunities to travel abroad. Our course offered international trips to Disneyland Paris and the opportunity to undertake a two-week, all expenses paid, work placement in Italy! I was lucky enough to attend a cultural visit to Poland where I made some amazing friends from other courses.

Pre-Lockdown, Fabrizia was working at Morrison’s as a Café Colleague however, now her role has expanded to include online selling as Lockdown restrictions shut down all Cafés.

I’ve loved being able to work in different departments, it’s having a massive impact on my skill set. I particularly enjoy the online selling because it’s so rewarding to help customers find products they’ve been looking for over a long period of time and provide these at affordable prices.

When asked what advice she would give to someone considering studying Business & Enterprise Level 3 at LMC, Fabrizia said:

I would 100% encourage people to apply. The support I received from the staff at LMC really helped me to achieve my qualification. It’s an amazing College and I’m so grateful for all the opportunities studying there gave me.
