The annual Apprenticeship Awards 2026 at Lancaster & Morecambe College recognise the outstanding achievements of our apprentices, employers and LMC staff members, who dedicate their time and efforts to supporting others in achieving their goals.

The team always plan a great event with all of our apprentices and employers at the forefront of our event, to ensure that the awards really do celebrate all of their achievements.

We thank Julie at Woodcrest Garden Centre for dressing our awards every year with her range of plants and flowers.

The Awards

1. Rising Star Award 2026

  • Demonstrated exceptional progress and growth in their skills and knowledge during their apprenticeship programme. This can be evidenced by exceeding performance targets, taking on new responsibilities, and consistently seeking out learning opportunities.
  • Received positive feedback from supervisors, mentors, and colleagues regarding their performance, attitude, and impact on the team or organisation. This includes feedback on their communication, teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and overall professionalism.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a strong commitment to their career development. This can include taking on leadership roles within projects or teams, actively seeking out feedback and mentorship, and showing a clear passion and drive for their chosen field.

2. Outstanding Newcomer Award 2026

  • Demonstrated an excellent start to their apprenticeship, quickly adapting to the workplace and developing the core skills and knowledge required for their role. This can be evidenced by a positive transition into employment, rapid understanding of expectations, and early competence in tasks and responsibilities.
  • Displayed a consistently positive attitude and strong work ethic as a newcomer. This includes reliability, willingness to learn, openness to feedback, and positive engagement with colleagues, supervisors and mentors within the organisation.
  • Shown enthusiasm and commitment to their apprenticeship and chosen career path. This can include proactively seeking learning opportunities, asking questions to improve understanding, embracing new challenges, and demonstrating motivation to develop both personally and professionally at an early stage of their programme.

3. Outstanding Achievement Award 2026

  • The apprentice must have achieved significant milestones or accomplishments during their apprenticeship programme that have had a notable impact on their team, department, or organisation. This can include exceeding performance goals, completing projects ahead of schedule, or receiving recognition for exceptional work.
  • The apprentice should demonstrate a high level of professionalism, dedication, and excellence in their work throughout their apprenticeship. They should consistently show initiative, take on challenges, and strive for excellence in all tasks and projects they undertake.
  • The apprentice should have received positive feedback and recognition from supervisors, mentors, and colleagues for their outstanding performance, contributions, and overall achievements during their apprenticeship. This can include testimonials, awards, or other forms of acknowledgment of their exceptional work.

4. Sustainability Champion Award 2026

  • Demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability principles and practices during their apprenticeship program. This includes actively participating in sustainability initiatives, projects, and activities within their organisation.
  • Shown exceptional creativity and innovation in implementing sustainable solutions and strategies within their team or department. This can include developing new processes, practices, or initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and social good.
  • Engaged in advocacy and education around sustainability, both within their organisation and in the wider community. This includes sharing knowledge, promoting awareness, and inspiring others to embrace sustainable practices and values.

5. Progress in Maths Award 2026

  • Demonstrated significant improvement in mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities during the apprenticeship programme.
  • Received positive feedback and recognition for progress in mathematics, showcasing a strong commitment to enhancing numerical proficiency.

6. Progress in English Award 2026

  • Demonstrated significant improvement in English language skills, both written and verbal, throughout the apprenticeship programme.
  • Received positive feedback and recognition for their progress and commitment to enhancing their English language proficiency.

7. LMC Staff Special Recognition Award 2026

  • Exceptional performance in facilitating and guiding apprentices throughout the programme.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentorship, support, and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Positive feedback received from apprentices regarding the tutor's/advisor’s impact, effectiveness, and dedication.
  • Consistently going above and beyond in their role to contribute to the success and positive culture of the organisation.

8. Intermediate Apprentice of the Year Award 2026

10. Higher Level Apprentice of the Year Award 2026

  • Exceptional skill and growth demonstrated during the apprenticeship.
  • Consistently exceeded expectations and shown dedication throughout.
  • Positive feedback received from supervisors and colleagues regarding performance and potential.

11. Employer of the Year Award 2026

  • Strong commitment to supporting apprentice development.
  • Implemented effective training and mentorship programmes.
  • Positive feedback from apprentices on a supportive work environment.
