FREE College Bus Service - Making your life easier
We know that many people who live some distance from Lancaster & Morecambe College would like to study with us; that's why we offer full-time students (studying 14+ hours a week) daily return transport during term time on the routes detailed below.
Students don’t need to apply to use our free bus service; they will receive their student ID during enrolment which they will use to access this service. Please note that students can only use the bus route that is printed on their card.
Full time students from the Garstang and Preston area may apply for a free Stagecoach bus pass to use scheduled buses, please ask at Student Services when you have enrolled.
There are terms and conditions of eligibility for free and discounted bus passes, to discuss further

Fee information is subject to change in line with Government policy and LSC funding priorities. Please check for up to date information when you are applying.
Whilst the College will endeavour to ensure that all buses arrive and depart at the stated times, no guarantee can be given and students should make their own arrangements in the event of failing to catch the service. No compensation will be paid should students miss their bus for any reason.

Discounted Stagecoach Bus Passes
Even if you don't live on a college bus route, you may still qualify for FREE or discounted travel to college. If you live more than 1.5 miles from College and your household income is below £35,000pa, we will provide you with a Stagecoach bus pass which you can also use at evenings and weekends.
Full time students from the Garstang and Preston area may apply for a free Stagecoach bus pass to use scheduled buses, please ask at Student Services when you have enrolled.
All students who are not eligible for a free bus pass can buy a discounted bus pass from The Hex, (see prices below), these passes can also use at evenings and weekends.

Bus passes are now annual only, and cost:
- Megarider - £615
- Goldrider - £1025
My experience with resitting in college couldn’t have gone better, and if there is anyone who may have to resit at LMC in the future here are my tips:
- If you give 100% so will your tutors
- Make the most of the lessons as they go very quickly leading up to the exam
- Don’t be scared! The tutors are tutors for a reason and they are amazing at their jobs.
I’ve learnt so many skills since the start of my apprenticeship, so many skills that I couldn’t have learnt on my own.

LMC helped me regain my confidence and showed me that with the right support and effort, I could not only achieve my goals but exceed them. The experience taught me resilience, independence, and the importance of using the tools and resources available to me."
During my time at LMC, I gained the skills I needed to support children and young people in education and how to behave positively and professionally when working in the education industry. This first-hand experience resulted in me being offered a long-term role as a teaching assistant.
My tutor made the lessons fun. I really miss playing the game Taboo as it really helped me develop my vocabulary. I didn’t find the preparation for exams stressful as the content of the course was well organised, explained and delivered. I was given information about mock exams in plenty of time so I always knew what I was working towards and what I needed to improve on. My tutor always made time for me and provided many opportunities for extra revision.
I am proud to be coming to this college and representing this college. I wouldn’t be where I am now without my course tutor Derek, who has helped and supported me through the years. Also I wouldn’t be where I am now without my employer who has helped me to become a better joiner.
