I chose to study Art & Design at LMC because I have always been a creative person and art is what I’m best at and enjoy. The best part of my course is creating artwork for my projects. The tutors give you the freedom to explore your own style and make each piece truly personal.

Fleur joined Lancaster & Morecambe College in 2023 to study Art & Design Level 2. She needed to complete the Level 2 course while also working towards her English and Maths qualifications, which would enable her to progress to whichever path she chooses after college. She now studies Art & Design Level 3, continuing to build on the skills and knowledge she developed during her first year.

Since joining LMC, Fleur has developed her presentation and social skills, which have helped her grow both personally and professionally. She has also achieved her GCSE Maths and English, which is a great bonus. Alongside this, the course has given her a better understanding of how to communicate effectively and be reliable in a professional setting.

Two of Fleur’s biggest accomplishments since starting college have been completing her GCSE English and finishing a commission for The Morecambe Winter Gardens as part of her work experience.

If you’re thinking about doing the course, I would say be prepared to do things you won’t want to do initially, as you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Also, experiment as much as possible with your artwork.

When Fleur finishes her course, she hopes to start working and see what opportunities come her way.
