The best part of my course is the freedom you are given on your projects, I love how I can customise and create art to suit my preferences. I am so grateful for the people I have met through College and how kind all the staff are in the department.
Megan passed seven of her GCSEs whilst as Dallam School in 2024, and applied to the Art & Design Level 3 course Lancaster & Morecambe College once she had received her exam grades on GCSE Results Day. She was accepted onto the course and is currently completing that, along side 4 hours of GCSE Maths each week, which she will be re-taking in preparation for university.
I chose to study an Art & Design course at LMC because I have always loved art, and it has always been my favourite hobby. I was keen to improve many of my general art skills as I loved Art & Design GCSE at school, so I wanted to continue this at college. In the future, I would either like to become an Art Therapist as I find art very calming and expressive, or have my own business in the arts field.
Key skills Megan has learnt during her time at college include working better in groups, as this was something she had struggled with in the past, so she is pleased to have developed this skill further. She has also learnt to accept that things won’t always be perfect, and that she should embrace her mistakes as a part of her development.

LMC is benefitting Megan professionally by providing her with opportunities to progress to university, as well as helping her develop time management skills, particularly when working on creative projects. Her biggest accomplishment at college so far includes completing all of her projects with time to spare, meaning she hasn’t had to rush her work. She is also proud of the grades she has achieved to date, which have exceeded her expectations.
If you are considering taking an Art & Design course at LMC, I would tell you that it is a very welcoming environment and everyone is friendly. It is very relaxing and stress-free and you will meet some great people and have lots of fun. I highly recommend it!
After completing her course, Megan hopes to work for a while before attending university to study an art related course.
