“The best part about the Animal Studies Level 2 course is the regular practical sessions, the amazing trips we get to attend, and learning how to care for a wide range of animals. It is always exciting, and no two days are the same!”

Millie has been studying at LMC for two years. Their brother previously completed a course here and recommended LMC to them. Millie started with the Land-Based Studies Level 1 course and then applied for and was accepted onto the Animal Studies Level 2 course.

Millie said they chose LMC because it is local to them, making it easy to travel to and from college. They also liked the wide range of animals they would get to learn about and felt they could gain a lot from the variety of animals and equipment available.

One important skill I have developed on this course is communication. I have a condition that can make it hard to communicate, but the staff at LMC have supported me a lot. They have helped me improve my communication skills by finding different ways for me to communicate with them and my peers, including using text-to-speech apps and prompt cards.

Millie said their biggest accomplishment at College so far has been securing a work placement at Shorefields Supplies, which is a local equestrian shop. After this course, they plan to apply for the Employability Course at LMC to further build their skills. Their dream job is to work on a farm, and they hope the knowledge and experience they gain will help them achieve that.

I would tell anyone thinking about enrolling on this course to definitely do it. You learn lots of new skills that will help you in the future, and you learn how to properly care for a wide range of animals.
