Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a number of exciting projects supported by the Government’s Strategic Development Fund to accelerate the green agenda and promote low-carbon services and practices.
Lancashire Colleges will be working in partnership with employers to identify skills shortages and ways to promote sustainability and net-zero practices in a number of sectors. The projects will develop state-of-the-art facilities and high-quality learning materials to promote sustainability.
Lancaster & Morecambe College are looking for a number of self-motivated individuals to implement projects which are funded until March 31st, 2022. 

Post subject to final confirmation of project funding.

Working as part of the Strategic Development Fund Project team, you will contribute to the College’s development & promotion of sustainable/low carbon projects. You will develop relationships with local businesses, positioning the College as a key partner in local skills improvement plans.  
You will be educated to NVQ Level 3 (or have equivalent skills and experience). Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead client meetings and give presentations are essential to the role. You will have experience of sales and marketing in a training environment with a proven track record of meeting robust sales targets

Key Tasks / Responsibilities

Job Purpose:  

  • As part of the Strategic Development Fund Project team, contribute effectively to the College’s development & promotion of sustainable/low carbon projects
  • Develop relationships with local business, positioning the College as a key partner in local skills improvement plans   

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with Employer Engagement Team to develop new and established relationships with local SMEs. 

  2. Manage own time effectively to engage with a range of employers from a range of sectors 

  3. Support with the development and promotion of the College’s Sustainable Energy Hub as a networking and event facility 

  4. Provide effective information, advice and guidance to employers to support their training needs.

  5. Represent the College and Strategic Development Fund Project at external events and networking opportunities.

  6. Develop new employer engagement opportunities, through seeking new and different opportunities to engage with employers.   

  7. Contribute to SDF project outputs within the Employer Engagement remit.

  8. Work with the wider Strategic Development Fund Project Team to develop a range of employer events and digital resources to promote low carbon and environmental awareness.
  9. Engage effectively with central cross college teams to ensure all standards and requirements are met such as: Health and Safety, and Finance.
  10. Support the development and implementation of the College CRM system and processes.
  11. Other duties commensurate with the grade of post as required.

Skills & Experience Required

Experience 

Essential - Measured by application form and interview

  • Experience in sales and marketing in a training environment with a proven track record in meeting robust sales targets
  • Knowledge of training programmes available to enhance the business activities of companies

Desirable - Measured by application form and interview

  • Understanding of current Further Education requirements, funding streams and initiatives (local and national)
  • Experience as a facilitator of training courses 

Qualifications

Essential - Measured by application form/certificates

  • Qualified to minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
  • GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2) 

Desirable - Measured by application form/certificates

  • Customer Service qualification / training

Skills / Abilities

Essential - Measured by skills test and interview

  • Excellent communication skills in ‘cold calling’; leading client meetings; and giving presentations
  • Skilled in developing customer relationships, negotiating and closing a sale and maintaining excellent customer service
  • Outgoing and self-motivated with a strong drive to achieve targets
  • Excellent IT skills 

Desirable - Measured by skills test and interview

  • A broad knowledge of NVQs and their structure
  • Ability to undertake Organisational/ Training Needs Analysis (or within agreed timescale) 

Personal

  • Proven organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A reliable and flexible approach to work and smart appearance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as a team player and ‘LMC ambassador’
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
