Job Description

Employer Engagement Lead – Energy, Engineering and Construction 
£27,926 per annum
37 hours per week

Lancaster and Morecambe College are seeking an Employer Engagement Lead to build and maintain relationships with local and regional businesses in the Energy, Engineering and Construction sectors, in order to develop courses that meet their needs. You will work collaboratively with curriculum and work-based learning teams to promote the College’s provision to employers, prospective learners and the wider community, helping to meet recruitment and progression targets. You will also oversee Apprenticeship Admissions, ensuring effective administration of applications and interviews. 

A knowledge of work-based learning and training programmes is essential to this role, as well as experience of supervising staff and processes. You should be qualified to a minimum of Level 4 in an appropriate subject, and hold GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2).

Key Tasks / Responsibilities

The Employer Engagement (EE) Team is part of the wider Engagement Team which offers a range of services to prospective students, current learners, employers, staff & visitors and has an ethos of close team work and communication. The Employer Engagement Coordinator will work collaboratively with curriculum and work-based learning teams to promote the College’s provision to employers, prospective learners and the wider community, helping to meet recruitment and progression targets. 

Job Purpose:  

  • To respond to employer need and demand, contributing to the College’s development & promotion of work-based learning and full-cost provision
  • To develop relationships with local business, positioning the College as a key partner in future enterprise and local economic development
  • To oversee the administration of the Apprenticeship Admissions and Digital Accounts Service processes

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with curriculum and marketing colleagues to develop courses to meet the needs of local business requirements, with particular focus on the Energy, Engineering and Construction sectors and the promotion of Apprenticeships to support recruitment.

  2. Advise organisations on the range of training and funding available to meet their business needs, including funded programmes and non-funded programmes, apprenticeships, diploma/NVQs and bespoke training.  Undertake organisational/training needs analysis as required.

  3. Develop and maintain client contact, customer relationships and all aspects of business development and take responsibility for specific client accounts

  4. Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, training coordinators and work experience coordinators to ensure positive relationships are fostered with local, regional and national employers, supporting the development of work placement opportunities for full-time learners.

  5. Manage the Apprenticeship Admissions processes, overseeing the daily line management of the Employer Engagement Administrator and ensuring effective administration of applications and interviews. 

  6. Manage the administration of the national Digital Accounts Service (DAS), supporting organisations to secure funding for Apprenticeships.

  7. Engage with local employers through networking opportunities, attendance at events and meetings to create new business for the college.

  8. Work closely with Apprenticeship Manager and marketing team to develop a robust plan for the promotion of apprenticeship provision within schools, to employers and the wider community.

  9. Engage effectively with central cross college teams to ensure high standards of compliance in e.g. Health and Safety, Information Services, Finance and Personnel

  10. Other duties commensurate with the grade of post as required.

Skills & Experience Required

Experience 

Essential - Measured by application form and interview

  • Experience of engaging with local employers and internal departments 
  • Knowledge of work-based learning and training programmes available to enhance the business activities of local and regional companies
  • Experience of supervising staff and processes

Desirable - Measured by application form and interview

  • Experience of working with Energy, Engineering or Construction sector
  • Understanding of current Further Education requirements, funding streams and initiatives (local and national)

Qualifications

Essential - Measured by application form

  • Minimum Level 4 qualification in an appropriate subject
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent Level 2)*

Desirable - Measured by application form and interview

  • Advice and Guidance Level 4
  • Team Leading or Supervisory Management Qualification (or within agreed timescale)
